About Green Your Noise
Green Your Noise is an online carbon calculation tool offering advice on carbon offsetting and sustainable practice for musicians and creatives.
We assist artists in so-called Australia with tracking the carbon emissions produced through live events, finding local carbon offset projects or environmental organisations to contribute to and helping to mitigate these carbon emissions.
Our Gigging Green series also provides resources to educate on ways to make your practice more environmentally sustainable, besides offsetting and donations.
Our aim is for this tool to give users a practical way to build conscious, positive action into their music and creative practices into the future. This calculator does not intend to place environmental blame or financial pressure on individual artists. Instead, it aims to assist and inform users who have the capacity and desire to offset their work and increase the sustainability of their practice.
Green Your Noise is the brainchild of musicians Winter McQuinn and Acacia Coates, who had been searching for a simple way to track the emissions they created through their music activities to offset them. As recipients of SIGNAL’s Young Creatives Lab 2020 they received financial support and mentoring to develop Green Your Noise. They plan to continue expanding and improving Green Your Noise in the future.
